Software

Here are some information about software and small scripts I developed to make my life easier. If you want to make your life easier too, they could be of interest. Check also my blog entries in the category Software for more information.

stabiliseR

stabiliseR is a R script (actually, a notebook, i.e. a kind of literate programming) that helps palaeo-ecologists to assess whether there sampling effort is sufficient or not. Directly from PolyCounter counting histories, stabiliseR draws stabilisation curves of each taxa while counting. It also draws the curve of taxa accumulation. stabiliseR can merge data from several counting histories, and offer to select the desire sample if there are several.

Feel free to download the notebook to try it. It contains explanations of every steps to help you adapt it to your need. stabiliseR will also be available as a web-app soon, more user-friendly.

JoliDiagram

JoliDiagram is another R notebook designed to create palynological diagrams of high aesthetic value directly from your PolyCounter counting sheets. While tedious to implement at first use, it comes in handy every time you just want to update your diagram with the latest samples you analysed or a new age-depth model, just in a few seconds!

My plan is to turn JoliDiagram into a real app, much more user-friendly, but this is a long-term project.
