I&#8217;ve been working on a slightly different approach to represent the same information, and make it more appealing. I came to this animated bar chart:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/output.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-162\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, each taxa proportion gets closer to its final value as the total count increases, and variations tend to decrease. The <code>tidyverse<\/code> and <code>ggplot<\/code> approach\/magic made it very easy to impletement. You first need the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/dgrtwo\/gganimate\n\"><code>gganimate<\/code> package<\/a> and then to include a <code>frame<\/code> argument in your plot&#8217;s aesthetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"242\" src=\"https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_ggframe-1024x242.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-163\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_ggframe-1024x242.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_ggframe-300x71.png 300w, https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_ggframe-768x182.png 768w, https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_ggframe-1536x363.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_ggframe.png 1666w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This will create a normal plot, ignoring the frame argument. But the <code>gganimate()<\/code> function can actually understand what it means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"220\" src=\"https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_gganimate-1024x220.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_gganimate-1024x220.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_gganimate-300x65.png 300w, https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_gganimate-768x165.png 768w, https:\/\/www.benscoat.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/carbon_gganimate.png 1488w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This will create a GIF in your working directory with as many different frames as values in the <code>variable_to_animate<\/code> provided to the <code>frame<\/code> argument.
