In the last years, it has been acknowledged that an important and significant proportion of valuable data produced by scientific institutions remains unpublished, or, worse, unmanaged. Such data aren’t visible at all, neither to the public audience\u2014which often happened to have paid for them\u2014, nor to the scientific community that could benefit from them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The OSU THETA<\/a> (Observatoire des Sciences de l\u2019Univers Terre Homme Environnement Temps Astronomie<\/em>) has developed a database of data produced by its research teams: dat@osu<\/a>. More precisely, it is a database of meta-data<\/em> that describes the data produced, not the data themselves. The purpose of dat@osu is to document the existence of the data produced, to give them visibility, and to facilitate data seekers in getting access to the data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since my Master studies, I’ve regularly been working in the Laboratoire Chrono-environnement<\/a>, one the constitutive labs of OSU THETA. I recently recorded all the activity I had there in dat@osu. You can find it here<\/a>. It is mostly about vegetation relev\u00e9s and palynological studies in the Jura Mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n dat@osu encompasses all sort of data generated by the research teams, from sub-atomic scale physics to astronomical observations, through molecular and animal population data.
